Anna Maria Island Pier

Anna Maria Island Pier

With the reopening of the AMI pier after it was destroyed by Hurricane Irma, now is the perfect time to take a look back at the pier’s history.
The pier was first built between 1911 and 1912 for small ships, mostly coming and going to trade local fish with fish from St. Pete and Tampa.
The pier has faced many storms, including some that left it damaged in the mid 70's, 1988, and 2012.
It wasn’t until Hurricane Irma struck in 2017 that the pier was completely devastated and has been closed up until this past week. $1.5 million was set aside to rebuild the pier, this time with metal in hopes that it would be more hurricane resistant.
Whenever you get the chance to visit the new pier and see history in the making, be sure to walk along Pine Ave and stop into Pink & Navy to say hi!!
Wishing everyone a safe and storm free summer vacay!!
Love,
Pink & Navy
